Jury Judged – First Place – Gallery 4 Percent USA – Nature Art Competition 2024.
Painted in oils “Macca” an adult male Tasmanian Green Rosella, also known as the Tasmanian Blue-cheeked Rosella.
He is an addition to my expanding collection of Australian Rosellas. Celebrating Rosella’s through art is a wonderful way to appreciate the beauty and diversity of Australia’s unique birdlife. The beauty and variation of colours these birds display is breath taking.
The Tasmanian Green Rosella’s vibrant colouration makes it an eye-catching subject to paint. the rich green of its head and upper body contrasts beautifully with its bright yellow underparts, while the blue patches on its cheeks add an extra splash of colour. These unique features make it a favourite among birdwatchers and artists alike.
Huge thank you and acknowledgement to photographer Janelle Walker for graciously providing the reference photo used as inspiration for this oil painting.
