This little guy is a Southern Emu Wren affectionately named “Crooner”.
Southern Emu Wrens are unique to Australia. They are one of our smallest birds and named after their six wispy tail feathers which look similar to the feathers of an emu.
“Crooner” is an addition to my constantly expanding Happy Wrensday oil painting repertoire of featured Australian wrens.
Thank you to photographer Anton Puzey for graciously providing the reference photo as inspiration for this painting.
