“Bougainvillea Princess” – a tiny Silvereye painted big in oils.
Native to Australa, New Zealand and the south-west Pacific. Silvereyes are olive green tiny little birds with a distinctive ring of white feathers around their eyes. Males have slightly brighter plumage than females.
Known for their melodious, warbling song consisting of a variety of notes and trills. These charming little birds can fly extremely long distances when they migrate at the end of summer and can live for up to 12 years, a long time for such a tiny bird.
Thank you to wildlife photographer Jen Mac Photography for graciously providing the reference photo as inspiration for this oil painting.
