When I set out to paint Majestic Hunter, I was drawn to the raw elegance of the White-bellied Sea Eagle. There’s something deeply moving about watching this powerful bird glide over calm waters, then strike with precision. That moment—when stillness meets action—captivated me, and I knew I had to capture it.
I chose tranquil waters as the backdrop to highlight the eagle’s strength and grace. The contrast between the peaceful setting and the dramatic hunt reflects the balance I see in nature: fierce yet harmonious, wild yet composed. It’s a scene that speaks to both the beauty and brutality of survival.
Through Majestic Hunter, I hope to share my deep respect for Australia’s birdlife and inspire others to see the wonder in these fleeting moments. It’s more than a painting—it’s a tribute to nature’s quiet power.

Pelicans are fascinatingly serene creatures who always appear to be self composed and quietly at ease with the world.
Percival was created as a labour of love during Covid isolation in Southern Western Australia. To me he was the perfect subject to work with at that time. As I got to know Percival he represented a feeling of self sufficient confidence. His shadow reflects the mood of a surreal phase in our every changing world. Strangely my attachment to this painting became quite philosophical.

What’s not to love about the beauty of one of Australia’s most iconic birds.
“Pretty Boy” is a very pretty in pink and grey cheeky Galah. Doing what Galah’s do – preening himself to make himself more beautiful.
We have an ever expanding family of Galah’s living on our property in Margaret River, Western Australia. Every morning like clockwork they provide hilarious entertainment with their bossy personalities, gymnastic hijinks, dancing performances and high speed aeronautic displays.
For a multitude of reasons my painting of “Pretty Boy” has been a stop & go creation which seems to have taken months. Just like all the subjects “Pretty Boy” told me his name as I got to know him in the studio.
May this “Pretty Boy” dressed in many shades of pink and grey bring much joy to the home in which he is chosen to roost.
